Job Title: SEN Teacher – English Subject Lead
Location: Bestwood Village School, Nottingham NG6 8TL
Salary: Up to £41,000 per annum dependent on experience (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start Date: November 2025

As part of our continued growth, we are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for an SEN Teacher with an English Subject Lead to join our supportive and passionate team at Bestwood Village School, part of Options Autism.

About the Role

This role is ideal for a committed and innovative educator who is passionate about supporting children with autism and complex needs. You will deliver engaging, inclusive, and responsive lessons in English while overseeing the development and implementation of the English curriculum across the school. You will also take responsibility for a tutor group, delivering wellbeing, PSHE, and Skills lessons, ensuring pupils receive a holistic and enriching educational experience.

Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will carry out professional duties in line with school policies, contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment. Your expertise and enthusiasm will help our pupils achieve their full potential academically, socially, and personally.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure the learning and achievement of all pupils in your classes, promoting equality of opportunity.
* Plan and prepare long-term and medium-term schemes of work for English.
* Deliver engaging, motivating, and high-quality lessons tailored to individual needs.
* Mark and assess pupil work in line with school policies, providing constructive feedback.
* Oversee and develop the English curriculum across the school, supporting colleagues and sharing best practice.
* Create a purposeful, stimulating, and safe learning environment.
* Support a tutor group by delivering wellbeing, PSHE, and Skills lessons.
* Contribute positively to the school’s ethos, policies, and professional standards.

Essential Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Experience or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Strong subject knowledge in English with the ability to lead the subject across the school.
* Passion for delivering high-quality teaching tailored to diverse learners.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion.

Bestwood Village School is a brand-new school in Bestwood Village, Nottingham and has capacity for 30 pupils. This is an exciting opportunity for anybody who wants to be a part of the successful development of a brand-new setting and make a difference to the education of our pupils.

*You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. 4DWW is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit
