About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Officer with a strong ambition to develop their career to join the Health and Care Research Wales and British Heart Foundation funded National Cardiovascular Research Network (NCRN) in Wales. Based in the Population Data Science Group at Swansea University, and working closely with the NCRN co-leads for Data and Advanced Analytics in Swansea and in Cardiff Metropolitan University, this role will focus on the development, management, and analysis of large-scale linked datasets, primarily within the SAIL Databank, to address critical cardiovascular research questions with real-world impact.

The postholder will play a key role in translating cardiovascular health questions into actionable data objectives and producing preliminary outputs to assess project feasibility within the themes of the NCRN. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers across universities in Wales, NHS collaborators, and external partners to curate high-quality datasets, manage secure data repositories, and contribute to impactful publications and funding applications.

This position also offers exciting opportunities for career development with potential to register for a PhD. The postholder will be mentored and supported to apply for research funding—both independently and in collaboration with NCRN investigators. If successful, this may lead to an extension of the contract beyond the initial 30 months period with the NCRN.

As part of the NCRN, you will join a dynamic and collaborative environment with strong links to major universities and other stakeholders across Wales and beyond. You will benefit from access to nationally significant data infrastructures and mentoring from experienced data scientists and epidemiologists. If you are passionate about data and committed to improving cardiovascular outcomes, we encourage you to apply
