Location: Southend-on-Sea
Salary: up to £35,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Thursday 6.45am to 4.30pm
An aerospace engineering manufacturer based in Southend-on-Sea is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller - Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with aerospace experience to be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machinery while supporting continuous improvement initiatives, reducing waste, and maintaining a zero-defect manufacturing philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
Programme, set and operate CNC Mills using Bridgeport Vertical Mills with Heidenhain controls and Haas Mills with Fanuc controls
Manufacture precision aerospace components from aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel
Coordinate programming and setting activities alongside existing setters
Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
Assist in the operation of other machinery including thread rollers, grinders, drill banks, torque testers and deburring equipment
Maintain machine efficiency to achieve production KPIs, on-time delivery targets and parts per hour objectives
Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, improve productivity and increase manufacturing efficiency
Complete maintenance checks, cycle time sheets and production documentation
Skills & Experience Required
Previous aerospace engineering manufacturing experience with a strong understanding of aerospace quality standards is essential
Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC Mills is required
Experience setting and operating fixed head or sliding head CNC machines is preferable
Experience with Doosan, Hardinge, Mori or Star machinery would be ideal
Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Knowledge of bar feeders and CNC lathes would be an asset
Strong inspection and measurement skills using a variety of measuring equipment is needed along with a high attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles
