Priory Hospital Newbury is looking to recruit a Speciality Doctor to join the team on our Acute ward. This is a part-time role of 30 hours. Priory Hospital Newbury, located Berkshire, is a level 2 rehabilitation service which supports male adults with mental health needs, who are working towards a life back in the community. We also provide an acute service, for local male and female patients who are in crisis and require a short admission for support.
We are well-placed to accept patients who need higher levels of care and intensive therapeutic support, as well as those stepping down in acuity.
What you’ll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients’s wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
* Undertake psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the unit multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of the Care Programme.
* Prepare discharge summaries, reports and other associated documentation as necessary e.g. for CPA meetings, as directed and supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist. Participation in learning activities and supervision.
* Participation in Clinical Governance activities, and account for contracted hours utilised in research, Continuing Professional Development and other non-clinical duties as necessary and promptly.
* Working effectively with colleagues to ensure that clients have access to appropriate medical cover at all times, which will require participation in an on‑call rota for the site.
What you’ll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows. This post requires an MBBS or equivalent, along with GMC registration and a valid license to practice. The successful candidate should be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and have completed an appraisal or RITA within the past year. The consultant must hold a CCST or CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of psychiatry and possess experience working in inpatient settings with individuals experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
