The Resilience and Emergency Management (R&EM) role is a significant and core activity within NESO. It is focused on understanding and planning system resilience across electricity and gas and the interactions between them. The key purpose is to provide whole system coordination and analysis, allowing delivery of independent, expert advice and information to government and the regulator, alongside strategic coordination and preparation for emergencies across energy vectors. Within R&EM we are building Programme Management and Stakeholder Engagement capabilities to work across the breadth of resilience activities, ensuring strong coordination and engagement across the broad remit of projects, stakeholders and outcomes being driven by the function. The Programme & Engagement team is expanding the Stakeholder Communications function and a Stakeholder Communications Officer is required.
This role is based from Warwick, with hybrid working from the office and home. We are open to full-time and part-time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.
Key Accountabilities
We’re forging the path, and we know we can’t do it alone. We’re looking for someone who can support our Stakeholder Communications Lead in:
* Communicating and championing the R&EM Directorate internally and externally
* Creating communications plans, and activating the plans to support R&EM visibility and monitoring progress
* Managing the R&EM event and conference schedule, including external speaking opportunities
* Event managing of R&EM Directorate events
* Recording, reporting and presenting on communications with key stakeholders
* Proactively creating opportunities to raise the profile of the work of R&EM and its reputation as an independent technical authority
* Creating briefing documents to support Leadership externally
* Assisting with the management of specific R&EM Email Accounts
* Assisting with the development of communication materials to support engagement in a way that emphasises impact and importance to the consumer and wider industry
* Supporting the Directorate in copy-edit support and proofing R&EM reports
* Establishing, maintaining and managing effective working relationships with key internal and external Stakeholders across the FSO, Industry and Government
About You
* Design experience would be advantageous
* Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities; organised, detail-oriented and able to make independent decisions with a high degree of confidence
* Understanding of event management and speaker support
* Ability to produce communications plans to support the R&EM Directorate
* Stakeholder management experience, ideally across internal senior stakeholders as well as external bodies (governmental or private) would be beneficial
* Awareness of stakeholder management processes and tools
* Ability to assemble complex ideas into clear and simple explanations, ensuring communications deliver value to consumers and improve resilience outcomes
* Ability to challenge or push Leadership during critical thinking opportunities when appropriate
* Knowledge of the structure, regulatory environment and issues affecting the energy industry would be an advantage
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £55,000 - £59,000pa – dependent on experience and capability.
In addition to base salary, a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme (double match up to 12%).
