Senior Project Manager (Construction) – Fixed Term ContractLocation: Brixton / South London (with weekly attendance in central London)
Contract: 18–24 month FTC
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Flexible; site‑based as project progressesWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Construction) to lead the delivery of a new ambulance station in Brixton, acting as the client‑side lead throughout the full project lifecycle.This is a high-profile,plex capital project currently at design concept stage, with a project/programme consultant and full design team already appointed. The role will operate with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, reporting into senior leadership and interfacing regularly with executive‑levelernance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as client‑side project lead for the end‑to‑end delivery of a major healthcare construction project, from design through to construction,missioning and handover
2. Provide senior technical and delivery leadership across the project team, consultants and contractors
3. Lead NHS capitalernance, business case development, assurance and reporting
4. Ensurepliance with HBNs, HTMs, Building Regulations, planning legislation and construction regulatory requirements, including the Building Safety Act
5. Manage project risks, programme, budget and change control
6. Chair and attendernance and assurance meetings (weekly attendance at HQ in Waterloo required)
7. Build strong collaborative relationships with operational stakeholders, clinical users and external partners
8. Ensure construction activity is delivered safely, withoutpromising operational services
Working Arrangements
9. Initially, up to 3 days per week at an operational base.
10. As the project moves into construction, up to 5 days per week on site will be required.
11. A flexible and pragmatic approach to working is essential.
About YouYou will be a senior construction professional with demonstrable experience deliveringplex capital projects, ideally within healthcare or similarly regulated environments.You will be able to demonstrate:
12. Extensive experience delivering large-scale construction projects in the public sector
13. Strong understanding of NHSernance, capital processes and assurance
14. In-depth knowledge of HBNs, HTMs, statutorypliance and construction regulation
15. Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage external consultants
16. Excellent stakeholder management, influencing andmunication skills, including at board level
17. Sound financial andmercial acumen for large capital programmes
Qualifications:
18. Relevant degree (or equivalent experience) in construction, engineering, building surveying or similar
19. Chartered status with a relevant professional body ( RICS, CIOB, CIBSE or equivalent)
20. Project or programme management qualification
