About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for Mechanical Designers to work as part of the Operations team at the Humber Facility across various Frameworks and Projects nationwide. The role involves delivering design from conceptual phase through detailed design, manufacture, and site implementation. This provides a chance to drive innovation in engineering, safety, and delivery solutions supporting value engineering.
The successful candidates will join a respected team working from our Humber Facility, supporting the growth and sustainability of the performance unit. Jacobs Field Solutions offers a fantastic opportunity to be involved across multiple client sectors in the UK, supporting this critical site designer role.
The role entails working with Senior Designers and Project Managers to develop design deliverables in accordance with British Standards and Client specifications. Responsibilities include creating technical documentation, updating drawings, managing digital models, uploading information onto Jacobs' data systems, and maintaining documentation on client platforms.
Interfaces include client framework staff, project QS, HSE staff, Information Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Develop engineering concepts alongside Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers.
2. Create scheme drawings complying with standards and specifications.
3. Collaborate with and support client Engineering teams.
4. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
5. Prepare drawings for internal and external review meetings.
6. Participate in HAZOPS as required.
7. Work independently with initiative.
8. Manage documentation uploads/downloads and progress tracking on client portals.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
1. Mechanical ONC or higher qualification.
2. Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software.
3. Knowledge of BS8888, BS5070, and BS EN 61082 standards.
4. Strong IT skills, including Office 365 and Excel.
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
6. Good interpersonal skills and team collaboration ability.
7. Experience in developing designs from models and discussions.
8. Site and engineering experience; training will be provided.
