Ensure compliance with UK legislative and site SH&E requirements Provide Leadership to the laboratory function to ensure that routine testing of in-process and finished material samples are carried out accurately and efficiently. Continuously improve lab performance by ensuring consistency between technicians and alignment with global network to exceed expectations of both internal and external customers Coach and develop lab technicians, addressing performance and personal / career development through coaching and regular feedback Identify key training and competency requirements for all roles within the department and implement training plans accordingly. Ensure excellent communication and sharing of information with the shift managers with regards to all aspects of shift laboratory technicians training & development. Continuous monitoring of quality levels through close cooperation with manufacturing teams and engineers. Identifies and executes on improvements to standard procedures. Manages staffing, shifts and work assignments as appropriate to meet work demands and budget constraints. Ensure proper and on-time maintenance and calibration of the lab equipment. Researches and proposes new equipment that can improve accuracy and efficiency. Conducts First line troubleshooting of equipment and processes and manages engineering support to resolution Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained and reporting of procedures and test results is done efficiently and accurately. Contributes through analytical work to the resolution of customer complaints Manages the customer sample generation process, ensuring samples are collected and shipped in a timely manner Manages the laboratory processes that contribute to the site Integrated Management System in line with the requirements of the ISO9001, 14001 & 45001 technical specifications and Supports efforts to implement and maintain the IMS across all site departments Provides emergency cover for QA/QC team if needed Take responsibility for any other reasonable duties as required. Knowledge in QA/QC testing procedures and techniques, laboratory procedures and equipment; Statistical Process Control. Understanding of product uniformity/variation. Knowledge of laboratory equipment safe use, calibration and maintenance. Knowledge of Lab Information Management systems (LIMS); material safety data sheets; ISO compliance. Knowledge of ISO management systems, HACCP, GMP Safety mindset; knowledge of accident/near-miss investigation/reporting procedures. COSHH, RA etc. Accuracy / Attention to Detail.
