Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)
We are working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Canterbury that supports children who require additional behavioural and emotional support to thrive in education. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where relationships are at the heart of everything they do.
They are now looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team.
The Role: Learning Support AssistantAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to help manage behaviour, build positive relationships, and support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
* Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
* Support the delivery of tailored learning activities
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, coaching, etc.)
* A strong, resilient personality with a calm approach under pressure
* A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* SEN experience is desirable but not essential
