Location: St Vincent's Wetherby and St Vincent's Knaresborough
Hours: Casual – to cover staff absences, including weekends and holidays
Salary: £12.60 per hour
Are you passionate about retail and looking for a flexible role where you can make a real difference? St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales) is looking for a Casual Assistant Shop Manager to support our charity shop teams on an as-needed basis.
About the Role:
As a Casual Assistant Shop Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe running of the shop when the Shop Manager or Assistant Manager is away. Your main responsibility will be to open and close the shops safely, while also supporting day-to-day operations, delivering excellent customer service, and helping to maximise sales and donations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Open and close the shop securely and safely
* Ensure the shop is welcoming, clean, and well-stocked
* Deliver excellent customer service and support volunteers
* Handle cash and follow financial procedures
* Maintain health and safety standards
* Support stock rotation, merchandising, and Gift Aid processes
About You:
We're looking for someone who is:
* Reliable, flexible, and able to work on short notice
* Experienced in retail (charity retail experience is a bonus)
* Confident in handling keys and opening/closing procedures
* Friendly, approachable, and a great team player
* Passionate about charity work and community engagement
Essential Skills:
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Basic IT and numeracy skills
* Experience in a customer-facing retail environment
