We’re seeking an experienced mechanical service and build technician to join our team. This is a joint role combining equipment build, installation, field service and remote technical support.
This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotics that directly impact environmental outcomes, improving material recovery efficiency, reducing landfill dependency, and enabling scalable circular economy infrastructure.
This role requires strong hand‑on mechanical experience within industrial manufacturing or automation environments. Electrical experience is desirable but not essential.
Role Overview
You will support an advanced AI-driven robotic sorting system integrating:
* Robotic picking cells
* Vision systems and AI technology
* Mechanical conveying and material handling systems
* Servo-driven and electrically actuated assemblies
* Integrated control systems
This equipment is engineered to increase the efficiency and sustainability of modern recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Build & Assembly
* Mechanical assembly of robotic and automation systems
* Building sub-assemblies and full machine builds
* Supporting factory testing and commissioning
* Interpreting mechanical drawings and build documentation
* Assisting in the creation and improvement of build procedures
* Supporting the preparation of risk assessments and safe systems of work
Installation & Field Service
* Installation and commissioning at customer sites
* Preventative maintenance and mechanical servicing
* Mechanical fault finding and problem resolution
* Supporting electrical diagnostics where capable
Remote Technical Support
* Providing structured remote technical support to customers
* Diagnosing mechanical issues via phone and video support
* Supporting on‑site personnel with troubleshooting
* Maintaining clear and accurate service documentation
Customer Interaction
* Acting as a professional company representative
* Providing clear technical communication and support
* Delivering a high standard of customer service
Requirements
* Proven experience in mechanical assembly and/or field service
* Experience working with industrial manufacturing or automation equipment
* Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills
* Experience in building and maintaining machinery
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
* Comfortable contributing to risk assessments and procedural documentation
