What You’ll Do
As the Senior Procurement Officer, you will be at the helm of all procurement activities for our client, ensuring that a professional service is delivered by the Joint Procurement Service. Your leadership will guide a team of Procurement Officers and Assistants, enabling them to perform at their best. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing the procurement of goods, works, and services to meet the operational needs of the authorities.
* Providing first-line supervision and support to your team, fostering their development through coaching and training.
* Creating and maintaining effective working procedures within the Procurement Section, ensuring efficiency in day-to-day operations.
* Preparing and managing contract documentation for high-value, complex portfolios of goods and services, ensuring all stakeholder needs are met.
* Leading the evaluation process for tenders, ensuring compliance with Contract Standing Orders and Procurement Legislation.
* Negotiating contracts to secure the most favourable terms, demonstrating a commitment to delivering Best Value.
* Preparing detailed recommendations for contract awards and managing ongoing supplier relationships to ensure service delivery aligns with established performance terms.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
* Full CIPS membership or be actively working towards it.
* A recognised graduate degree or equivalent commercial experience.
* Must be able to pass Police Vetting therefore continuously have lived within the UK for at least 5 years
* Proven experience in high-risk, high-value procurement agreements and a solid understanding of Procurement Law.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
* The ability to influence stakeholders at all levels with strong communication skills.
* Line management experience or the potential to develop these skills.
* A willingness to travel within Sussex and Surrey.
