If you are a meticulous individual with a passion for design and development, for a pre-production project then this could be perfect for you.Senior Electrical Design Engineer (contract)Outside IR35Marine & defence applications6 month contract Responsibilities:System Design and Integration:
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate electrical systems into the overall design.
* Design and layout electrical systems, encompassing power distribution, wiring harnesses, connectors, control modules, and charging systems.
* Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Prototyping and Testing:
* Work closely with testing teams to conduct functional, performance, and safety tests on electrical systems.
* Diagnose and resolve any issues that arise during testing phases.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Develop detailed documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports related to electrical design.
* Effectively communicate design concepts and findings to team members, management, and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of industry experience with an apprenticeship qualification.
* Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
* Experience with 3D CAD systems (e.g., Inventor) is advantageous but not essential.
* Familiarity with CAN Bus systems.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
* Experience in preparing and submitting detailed design specifications for high-value projects.
* Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to excellence.
* Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity; lateral thinking is encouraged.
* Experience in testing and commissioning electrical systems.
Working Hours:
* Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, or flexibility such as 7.30am – 4pm
* Site based work, can work all 40 hours in 4 days on site and have a long weekend
* No remote working
Candidates must be able to obtain BPSS clearance and should have the right to work in the UK.
