Our client is at the cutting edge of innovation and is the largest global manufacturer of load banks and power test solutions. Their products and equipment replicate real-world demands of power system infrastructure for mission-critical power applications such as data centers, healthcare, microgrids, and large commercial buildings (e.g., financial institutions) where power must stay on, even if the grid fails.
Preferred experience: Understanding of HV, MV, and LV circuits. Ideally, electrical design experience related to load banks, gensets, transformers, and/or grid-connected power transmission circuits and systems.
Job Description
Working within the New Product Development (NPD) team, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and delivering new and enhanced products that meet customer needs in a timely and cost-efficient manner, adhering to performance, legislation, and quality standards. You will ensure design intent is realized through effective communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Concept creation based on market and customer requirements data.
2. Participate in voice of customer (VOC) exercises as required.
3. Electrical design – lead the generation of electrical designs using analysis tools and create electrical drawings, models, and schematics using CAD packages.
4. Define, lead, and support product FMEAs, validation, and testing programs.
5. Ensure products are designed for manufacture (DFM) and meet performance targets.
6. Create engineering specifications and BOMs.
7. Prepare test reports and technical documentation for customer use.
8. Identify opportunities for improvement by staying updated on emerging technologies.
9. Implement system and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
10. Ensure product safety and compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CE, UL, CSA).
About You:
* BSc/BEng in electrical engineering with proven industry and product experience.
* 5+ years in electrical/power systems design or NPD roles.
* Understanding of HV, MV, and LV circuits.
* Electrical design experience related to load banks, gensets, transformers, or grid-connected systems is preferred.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, and Microsoft 365.
* Professional Engineering (PE) status is advantageous.
* Strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Experience with similar electrical products is a plus.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering results on time.
* People and process-oriented with a collaborative approach.
