Cheshire West and Chester Council's DDAT department is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Application Support Lead to oversee the teams who deliver effective application management and support to users across the council to ensure the ongoing fitness for purpose and best use of applications in all business areas. This role is a Grade 12, £53,287 - £60,831 (as of April 2024 pay band figures). The closing date for applications is midnight on 20th July 2025. For more information on the role and the DDAT department, please visit the Digital, Data and Technology recruitment site. www.cwcrecruitment.co.uk/digitaldatatechnology-external Responsibilities include: Managing, motivating and developing the Application Support Team to ensure that appropriate skills and expertise are deployed to support the achievement of the business needs and agreed priorities of the Council & partners. Accountable for application management processes, including operational liaison with suppliers around updates, upgrades and configuration management and communication with the business on any impact to service continuity. Monitoring and managing budgets for the Team’s projects and work packages. Assessing the fitness for purpose of applications for their assigned business area. Ensuring new functionality is successfully implemented and adopted by business users, applying new capability to business problems. Ensure the team meets its targets and agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA) and achieves excellent customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain an appropriate understanding of the relevant technologies to ensure that the technical issues are fully addressed in planning phases. Prepare written reports and complex technical diagrams and recommendations for staff, managers of all levels and steering groups or other bodies as required. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a post-graduate ICT/DDAT qualification and/or extensive professional experience of working in the ICT industry. It is essential you have experience of working in an IT/DDAT development and support environment, working with service management tools and incident management processes and have had substantial involvement in application management in a complex, multi-functional organisation with a range of hosting arrangements (on premise, cloud, supplier hosted). You should be experienced with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), incident response times, escalation procedures, and service delivery reporting with internal customers and third-party providers and have significant experience of project budgeting, resource management, income management and monitoring processes.
