In a nutshell
We’re looking for an experienced and talented engineering leader to step into one of the most critical roles here at Virgin Atlantic. As Vice President – Engineering & Maintenance, you’ll be responsible for the safety, reliability and future capability of our airline.
In this role you’ll be responsible for the full Engineering & Maintenance function, from safety and regulatory compliance, CAMO, global maintenance operation, supply chain management, commercial performance to long-term strategic planning and innovation. It’s a chance to shape the next chapter of our operation, ensuring we stay at the forefront of aviation while delivering a world-class service for our customers.
Day to day
* Heading up a global team of over 750 people and manage a budget in excess of £270 million.
* Leading the Engineering & Maintenance team, ensuring full compliance with Part CAMO, 145, 147, and 21 regulations.
* Overseeing global maintenance activity, which includes base, line, and hangar operations, with a focus on safety, reliability, and on-time performance.
* Driving key strategic programmes such as fleet transitions, aircraft upgrades, and digital transformation projects.
* Managing our global supply chain and inventory, making sure maintenance operations are cost-effective and well supported.
* Building and developing a high-performing senior leadership team, and fostering a culture that champions empowerment, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
* Owning relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders such as Airbus, Boeing, Rolls-Royce and CAA, ensuring long-term value and strong delivery performance.
* Taking the lead on financial planning and cost control across both operational and capital budgets, with a sharp focus on lifecycle costs.
* Representing Virgin Atlantic with regulators, OEMs, and industry bodies - bringing credibility, influence, and professionalism to every interaction.
About You
Are you an experienced, confident and credible engineering leader, with deep industry expertise and a strong sense of purpose? Can you guide and drive excellence into a large technical workforce? Do you thrive in a complex, fast-moving environment, with the ability to bring clarity, ambition, and integrity to everything you do? Then this could be the role for you!
Alongside the above, we’re looking for the following:
* An engineering degree or equivalent senior experience in the aviation industry.
* Proven experience in commercial aviation, including operating in senior leadership.
* Experience holding relevant regulatory approvals (e.g. Part CAMO or 145).
* A strong grasp of aviation safety and regulation, along with a proven ability to work closely with regulatory authorities.
* A background in leading large, multi-site teams and delivering results in high-pressured environments.
* Solid commercial experience, including managing large budgets and high-value supplier relationships.
* A strategic mindset, with a passion for innovation, digital improvement, and long-term planning.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with people at all levels.
