Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager (Defence and Security) to lead the university’s strategic approach to securing external funding and contracts within the defence and security sectors. This senior role offers an exciting opportunity to influence national education and training priorities, expand our partnerships, and position the university as a trusted provider of professional development, research and consultancy in this field.
Responsibilities
* Lead the end‑to‑end management of competitive bids, from market analysis and pipeline development to proposal design, costing and submission.
* Collaborate with academic experts and sector stakeholders to ensure bids align with client needs, regulatory standards and institutional priorities.
* Manage a small team and oversee delivery planning for successful contracts.
* Maintain effective relationships with the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces and industry partners.
* Ensure all bids meet quality, compliance and financial requirements.
Qualifications
* Eligibility to obtain UK Security Vetting (BPSS) clearance and willingness to travel to military and partner sites as required.
* Strong bid management, financial planning and project delivery experience, ideally within higher education, defence or public sector training environments.
* Proven track record of success in developing or managing large‑scale bids.
* Exceptional communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across complex organisational structures.
Employment Details
Salary: £44,128 per annum
Position: Permanent, full‑time (37 hours/week)
