About the Role
We're looking for a motivated Driver/Crew Leader to join our Waste Services team and help keep Edinburgh clean, safe and sustainable. In this key frontline role, you'll drive and operate specialist vehicles, supervise a small crew, and ensure the efficient collection of waste, recycling, litter and bulky materials. You'll be the first point of contact for members of the public, delivering excellent customer service while keeping to the highest safety and service standards.
As a driver crew leader, you will work closely with your supervisor to report on route progress, crew performance, and any vehicle related issues, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery.
What You'll Do
1. Safely drive LGV and other waste service vehicles.
2. Lead, supervise and support crew members on daily routes.
3. Collect and dispose of waste, recycling and bulky items, ensuring all tasks are completed to schedule.
4. Use in-cab technology to record route progress and report service issues.
5. Provide advice to the public and resolve service-related queries where possible.
6. Ensure health, safety and environmental policies are always followed.
What We're Looking For
7. Full UK Driving Licence (Category C) + Driver CPC.
8. Experience supervising or leading teams in an operational setting.
9. Good knowledge of vehicles, equipment and waste/cleansing practices.
10. Ability to use handheld technology and in-cab reporting systems.
11. Strong communication and customer service skills.
12. A positive, proactive attitude with the ability to solve day-to-day issues on the job.
