The Governors of St. Richard Gwyn Catholic High School are looking to appoint a highly-motivated, creative and innovative teacher of Religious Studies. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of Religious Studies and ensuring we successfully deliver the new Religious Education Curriculum Directory and Religion, Values and Ethics as part of the new Curriculum for Wales This post is an important appointment in terms of fulfilling our mission statement and our vision for our inclusive school; ensuring that students have the opportunity to live life to the full and supporting them in their formation. We would expect the successful candidate to have an unstoppable passion for supporting our students, working with the curriculum leader to deliver outstanding provision for Religious Studies and ensuring extensive opportunities for students to develop spiritually and morally. You will have a real capacity to inspire, motivate, enthuse and support students. You will join a dedicated and hard-working team with high standards and expectations at an exciting time in the development of education in Wales.
There is also the opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to take on the additional responsibility of Head of Year. In this role, you will provide strong pastoral and ethical leadership, underpinned by Catholic values, ensuring that every learner is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. You will promote high standards of attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, taking a proactive and inclusive approach to removing barriers to learning. Working in close partnership with families, staff and external agencies, you will ensure that all pupils receive the care, guidance and support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. You will play a key role in monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and wellbeing, using evidence to inform timely and effective interventions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, and a clear understanding of the importance of relationships in securing positive outcomes. As Head of Year, you will lead the development of a positive and respectful year group ethos, rooted in Gospel values, where all learners feel safe, valued and empowered to succeed.
