2 month contract role with a Local Authority Job Summary: • The Personal Advisor for the Leaving Care Team (Worthing) will provide direct support to young people transitioning out of care, helping them to develop independence and achieve positive outcomes. • Working within West Sussex County Council, the role involves building trusted relationships, offering practical advice, and coordinating support packages tailored to each care leaver’s needs. • This temporary position requires a proactive, organised individual committed to safeguarding and empowering young people. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Provide ongoing advice, guidance, and emotional support to care leavers aged 16–25. • Complete pathway plans and assessments in line with statutory requirements. • Assist young people in developing independence skills such as budgeting, housing, education, and employment. • Work collaboratively with social workers, external agencies, housing providers, colleges, and employers. • Maintain accurate case records, reports, and documentation. • Advocate on behalf of young people to ensure they access appropriate services. • Undertake regular visits, meetings, and reviews with care leavers. • Ensure safeguarding principles are upheld at all times. Skills/Experience: • Experience supporting young people, ideally within leaving‑care, youth work, or social care environments. • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by care leavers. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to build trust and develop positive professional relationships. • Good knowledge of housing, benefits, education, and employment pathways. • Strong organisational and time‑management skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑agency team. • Confident in maintaining accurate records and writing reports. • Understanding of safeguarding and relevant legislation (e.g., Children (Leaving Care) Act).
