The Role:
M&G is a large investor in Private Assets for its clients. This role sits within the Private Markets Research team, who look to support the investment process by providing credit opinions and ratings to the fund managers. The ratings are dependent on the credit methodologies that M&G has devised.
This role will look to support the on going process of developing, enhancing and challenging of the methodologies. Further to this, the ratings that are produced using the methodologies are tested to further support their appropriateness, this will include engaging with rating agencies. Many of the findings from this work then need to be documented and presented through governance to support the work we do for clients. This role will support all areas of private debt.
The role will be required to engage and lead conversations with internal stakeholders throughout the Private Markets business as well as be involved with other key stakeholders both internally and externally. This would include clients, rating agencies and regulators.
As part of a research team, there may be opportunities to work on transactions as well as the key responsibilities, most likely within Structured Credit.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the process of developing, enhancing and challenging of methodologies.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
5. Good understanding of credit methodologies across multiple sectors, their key elements and how they are applied
6. Keep abreast of changes in external rating agency methodologies and feedback to internal stakeholders.
7. Ability to provide constructive challenge to internal methodologies as sectors evolve.
8. An understanding of credit ratings and how they are derived across a broad set of asset classes.
9. Ability to work independently with multiple stakeholders at once and act in a coordinating role.
10. Highly organised to help manage complex processes across a variety of sectors.
11. Good analytical skills to help interpret significant levels of data and to explain the meaning of the data to key stakeholders.
