 
        
        Patient Care Assistant – Veterinary Surgery
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team at Plunketts Veterinary Surgery (a CVS Group UK practice). This full‑time, 40‑hour per week role is a fixed‑term contract ending 30 June 2026.
About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant is a foundation position that supports our qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) and veterinarians in providing outstanding care to our animal patients.
Key Responsibilities
 * Nursing care to patients
 * Assisting vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment
 * Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
 * Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
 * General cleaning and maintenance duties
 * Running internal lab samples
 * Answering emergency calls
 * Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments
Qualifications and Skills
 * Excellent communication and empathy skills
 * Strong customer service experience dealing with members of the public
 * Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, handling, and a high level of understanding of animals’ welfare needs
 * Resilience to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
 * Positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
 * Experience in a veterinary environment is desirable

Contract Information
Fixed‑term contract until 30 June 2026. Works 5 days a week, including every other Saturday, with time off in lieu.
