About us

Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better. We are driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement. We are growing fast, and our ambition is huge - more categories, more locations, and more people.

Market safety

Dyson monitors, reviews, and investigates all safety-related customer claims from every global market, ensuring they are resolved quickly and thoroughly. The Market Safety team provides technical expertise for investigations and supports customer care and local commercial teams in achieving resolutions. Additionally, the team supports insurance claims and collaborates closely with legal teams to meet all regulatory reporting requirements.

A key responsibility of the function is closed-loop reporting on the safety landscape and providing feedback into development processes.

About the role

The role involves reviewing all claims to determine their validity and identifying those that need escalation or further investigation. As the technical expert in market safety, you will work closely with local market legal, engineering, and customer care teams. The global nature of the market means you will encounter varying product usage, organizational structures, and regulatory requirements, making the role both challenging and rewarding.

With a continually expanding product portfolio, new market entries, and increasing sales volumes, the need for additional resources will grow over time. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding and leading a global team.

Accountabilities

1. Oversee and lead comprehensive safety claims management. Review all reported claims daily, assess initial risk and severity, and ensure information received is detailed. Request and obtain additional information if necessary.

2. Ensure alignment of all claims with regulatory reporting requirements, monitoring claim severity meticulously. Lead escalation processes to group and market legal teams for high-risk cases, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

3. Prepare technical reports for any required submissions. Oversee the preparation and quality assurance of all technical reports for mandatory submissions, ensuring that all reports meet the highest standards of accuracy and regulatory compliance.

4. Assist global customer care teams and local engineering in assessing claims to ensure satisfactory customer resolutions.

5. Conduct complex product inspections, identifying root causes, and crafting comprehensive written reports.

6. Coordinate internal or external technical support for in-depth investigations, serving as the technical coordinator if required.

7. Monitor and support all product-related insurance claims, providing technical assistance and attending site and lab-based inspections as needed.

8. Lead projects to establish or improve systems and processes for recognizing and escalating potential safety claims, adapting to the evolving landscape of customer communication channels.

9. Monitor, analyse, and present data (e.g., safety case status and trend metrics) to senior management, providing actionable insights.

About you

10. Degree in engineering, electronics, physics, or a related field (or equivalent).

11. Proven expertise in applying advanced engineering principles for the investigation and resolution of complex claims across a diverse product portfolio.
