our client is seeking an experienced Workshop Machinist to join our busy mechanical engineering team based in Dover. working on a variety of machining tasks both in our workshop and occasionally on client sites

Job description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other workshop tools
2. Work from engineering drawings and project instructions
3. Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
4. Use and store hazardous substances safely (COSHH compliance)
5. Complete on-site or workshop-based tasks as directed
6. Carry out only tasks within your valid certifications
7. Support with other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Essential:
8. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Machining
9. Proven experience in a similar machinist or mechanical fitter role
10. Competent in the use of manual machines and tools
11. Valid certification for lifting equipment and abrasive wheels
12. Up-to-date H&S training (CSCS or CCNSG)
13. Own transport for travel to/from our Dover workshop
Desirable:
14. Experience in industrial or heavy engineering environments
15. Welding or fabrication knowledge
16. Ability to read CAD drawings
17. Forklift or overhead crane certification
Pay & Overtime:
£17.77 per hour
Overtime (when required):
18. Weekdays after 6 PM: 1.5x
19. Saturdays: 1.5x
20. Sundays: 2x
Tools:
21. Personal basic tools required
22. Job-specific tools provided and must be cared for as company assets
