Job Summary:
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and provision of a high quality urgent care service (minor injury and illness) based across Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals - Urgent Treatment Centres.
The General Practitioner will deliver care of the highest clinical standards, working in conjunction with the ED consultant, Service Manager and the nursing team, supporting the overall performance of the UTC.
At all times the post holder will act in a manner consistent with the GMC code of conduct and appearance representing LNWH and the NHS
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. To provide complete consultations with assessment, treatment and management of patients of all ages presenting with primary care problems at the UTC
2. To record full clinical notes using the UTC IT
3. To complete all admin work relating to consultations
4. To work as part of the wider clinical team- supporting the UTC and ED team
5. To manage referrals of patients on to acute specialities or community services where required
6. To support the redirection of patients to their registered GP
7. To give education to patients on healthy living and disease prevention
8. To give education to patients on appropriate use of NHS services
9. To prescribe medicines in accordance with the LNWH formulary and dispense medicines from stock where available
10. To complete discharge letters for all patients seen
11. To complete coding requirements on the clinical record in line with guidance
12. To use all internal and external referral pathways as required
13. To adopt a reflective approach to clinical practice, to report all incidents and work with the team to investigate incidents
14. To prepare response for any complaints concerning his / her work
15. To follow the LNWH safeguarding and vulnerable adults policy
16. To restrict the use of diagnostics according to your ability to interpret the results
17. To maintain full registration with the GMC and have full medical liability insurance
