Overview
We are seeking an early-career Manufacturing Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering Team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will work across Civil and Defence business lines based at our Luton site, with occasional travel to equipment suppliers. The Manufacturing Engineer will work on several value streams within current programmes, developing new and existing manufacturing processes while supporting the day-to-day operations team at Luton. This is an entry-level role with training and development opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Develop & Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Process Specifications for manufacturing processes.
* Publish and update engineering documentation and manage introduction activities.
* Lead structured problem solving projects.
* Establish appropriate new process controls and improve existing ones.
* Day-to-day support to manufacturing operations.
* Conduct Material Review Board (MRB) reviews and address product faults.
* Reduce scrap & rework, supporting continuous improvement activities.
* Comply with the Company's Environmental, Health & Safety and Energy procedures.
* Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
* Ability to describe mechanical assembly processes from drawings / BoM.
* Exposure to standardisation of processes via SOPs (standard operating procedures).
* Logical and methodical approach to task planning with evidence-based decision making and problem solving.
* Competent in problem-solving techniques (e.g., A3, 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams).
* Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to create clear, concise, and accurate technical content.
* Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications
* Desirable: Interpreting specifications.
* APQP and PPAP documentation including Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Process Control Plans, MSA and Process Capability.
* Lay-up processes for composite materials & adhesives.
* CHS&H controls exposure.
* HNC with industry experience in Manufacturing Engineering or degree qualification in a relevant engineering field.
* Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
* Able to describe mechanical assembly processes from drawings and BoM.
