Position Summary: Weymouth Child Development Center is looking for a caring, dependable, and motivated School Age Assistant Teacher to support the daily operations of our school age program, which serves children ages 5–12 during before and after school hours, school breaks, and summer. The Assistant Teacher will work under the guidance of the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment that encourages children's development and creativity. Key Responsibilities: Assist in planning and leading age-appropriate activities, including academic enrichment, arts and crafts, games, and outdoor play. Support the Lead Teacher in supervising children and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Help promote positive social interactions and assist with behavior guidance using respectful, developmentally appropriate strategies. Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff members. Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and licensing standards. Assist with snack preparation, set-up, and clean-up of activities and materials. Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions. Provide supervision during arrival, departure, field trips, and transitions. Step in to lead small groups or the full group in the Lead Teacher’s absence, as needed. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field preferred. Experience working with school-age children in a group setting (after-school program, camp, classroom, etc.) preferred. Ability to take direction, work collaboratively, and show initiative. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must meet all state and local licensing requirements, including background checks and health screenings. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Work Schedule: · Hours typically include mornings (before school) and afternoons (after school), with extended hours available during school breaks and summer. · Flexibility is appreciated to support program needs.
