About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Nottingham’s IT Service Desk. We are looking to recruit a number of people to join the team specifically to help support our student and staff community during the busy start of session period. This initial opportunity commences on the 11 th August 2025 and runs up until 14 th November.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to GDPR compliance regulations and access to existing student data, we are unable to offer this opportunity to anyone who is studying at the University of Nottingham during the engagement. However, we can consider Graduates who have completed their course of study by 11 th August 2025.
Please also note that you will be required to provide evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK prior to commencing any work.
The primary focus will be providing IT support for new and returning students and applicants. The essential responsibilities will include:
* Providing support for all IT related queries and support requests submitted by the university community via telephone and self-service
* Assisting all members of the university community in the event of a major service disruption and in accordance with Digital and Technology Services Incident Management procedures
* Liaising with senior Service Desk staff regarding issues that cannot be resolved at the first point of contact
* Recording all IT Service Desk calls using the appropriate service management software
* Any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the person appointed
Working hours:36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday. The service operates between 08.00 and 17.15; this role would usually work between 09.00 and 17.15, but some flexibility may be required.
This role is fully on-site in Nottingham on our King’s Meadow Campus to allow for operational support.

You are a motivated individual who thrives in a busy environment and who fits in and works well within a team.
You may not have deep technical IT knowledge but are willing to be trained and have excellent people and communication skills. You can follow standard processes and have an eye for detail. You can also think on your feet, proactively draw upon any support available to you, work with the customer’s best interest at heart and strive to deliver the highest quality of service.
