This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £10,093.37 - £10,573.37 per annum.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide practical instruction at industry standards, working closely with lecturing teaching staff to give practical support, instruction, training and supervision to students in practical subjects individually and in groups.
* Prepare materials and maintain resources for practical tasks.
* Create a learning environment that enables students to achieve their full potential, supporting teaching staff and using available facilities and resources.
* Maintain a professional and immaculate image and uphold high standards of the Animal Welfare Centre.
* Contribute to the Animal Centre's commercial enterprise strategy for successful delivery to stakeholders.
* Deliver practical training/instruction to learners at all levels.
* Carry out training and assessment, including skills/technical competence development within the animal environment, supporting candidates to achieve qualifications, providing feedback on progress, guiding and coaching candidates, and assessing competence to national standards.
* Assist with exam invigilation during busy exam periods as required.
* Provide technical support for the Animal Centre and conduct practical demonstrations/instruction for students and stakeholders.
* Support the centre during out‑of‑academic‑year, weekend, holiday and adverse weather periods to ensure animal safety and welfare.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in Animal Welfare, Veterinary Nursing or equivalent.
* Formal structured training relevant to the vocation.
* Previous experience of delivering classes is an advantage.
* Working knowledge of information technology such as email, the Internet and other software applications.
* Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Local geographic presence to support the centre during weekends, holidays and adverse weather conditions.
Background & Conditions
Protection of Children and Young Persons (The Children's Act 1989) requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, a certificate of good conduct if applicable, satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, safeguarding understanding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as the role falls within regulated activity at the College. You must agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.
