Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean‑up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

About the Role
Electrician / Control & Instrument Technician in the Chapelcross Maintenance Department. You will carry out the Examination, Inspection, Maintenance and Testing of plant and equipment in support of the Plant Maintenance Schedule and statutory requirements. The work is diverse and suits a candidate motivated, flexible, adaptable, and willing to develop further skills in a multi‑disciplinary team.
This role offers a four‑day work week, Monday‑Thursday, 07:30–17:15.
Key Deliverables
* Carry out core maintenance duties ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments.
* Support continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality policies on site.
* Complete training as defined in Common Training Profiles, supplemented by site‑specific training where required.
* Maintain accurate records of completed tasks to support the site Plant Maintenance Schedule.
* Ensure skills, knowledge and attitude appropriate to the safe use of hand and power tools are maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
* Time served Electrician / Instrument Technician (C&I) with demonstrable technical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, NVQ Level 3) – essential.
* Relevant work experience in a technical area may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
* Basic literacy and numeracy qualification – essential.
* Awareness of Modern Safe Working Practices and the HSE Workers’ Compensation Act (HASAWA) – essential.
* Experience of team working – essential.
* Electrical inspection and testing to British Standard BS7671 – desirable.
