XMA’s Director of Engineering is a key leadership role responsible for driving engineering innovation, program execution, and team development. This role manages a team of RF/Microwave Design Engineers, Technicians, and technical professionals, providing strategic oversight and hands-on technical guidance.
With a deep understanding of RF design, mechanical packaging, and manufacturing processes, the Director of Engineering will play a critical role in advancing XMA’s technology roadmap, ensuring product development aligns with business objectives and customer needs. This position is part of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, budget management, and financial decision-making.
Responsibilities include:
* Participating in strategic planning and providing engineering insights for growth initiatives.
* Contributing to budget planning, aligning engineering investments with financial goals.
* Leading and developing the engineering team, setting objectives, fostering innovation, and mentoring.
* Establishing departmental standards and priorities.
* Guiding design, development, and testing of RF passive components, ensuring manufacturability and performance.
* Driving continuous improvement in engineering efficiency and product quality.
* Overseeing new product development using Stage-Gate methodology.
* Managing project workflows to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
* Tracking KPIs such as time-to-market, cost, and RF performance.
* Collaborating with sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams.
* Providing expertise in RF/Microwave engineering and simulation tools.
* Supporting failure analysis, design verification, and manufacturing instructions.
* Participating in engineering builds and production validation.
* Providing cost estimates for products and redesigns.
* Working with operations and supply chain to optimize processes.
* Developing risk management strategies.
* Engaging with customers and suppliers for technical support.
* Recruiting, training, and mentoring team members and planning succession.
* Performing other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities:
* Leading and managing engineering staff, including hiring and performance management.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
* 10-15 years of RF/MW engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership.
* Strong knowledge of RF design, mechanical design, and materials science.
* Experience with RF simulation tools and project management methodologies.
Travel: Up to 20-30% domestically and internationally as needed.
Software and equipment proficiency:
* Microsoft Office, Six Sigma Certification, CST or similar RF simulation tools.
Work authorization: US Citizenship may be required; employment contingent on background checks and agreements.
