IT Field Engineer Location: Hereford (Office Based Client Visits) Salary: Up to £35,000 Electric Company Vehicle & Excellent Benefits I’m recruiting on behalf of a growing and well-respected IT services provider based in Hereford, who are looking for a confident and capable IT Field Engineer to join their expanding technical team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on the road, working face-to-face with clients, and solving a wide variety of technical issues in real-time. You’ll spend around 90% of your time on client sites across the region, with the rest of your week in the office supporting remote work or project planning. What you’ll be doing: Providing high-quality, on-site IT support to a diverse client base Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and networking hardware Supporting and maintaining Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based environments Troubleshooting LAN/WAN, router, switch, and firewall issues Performing regular maintenance, patching, and infrastructure upgrades Keeping accurate technical documentation of client systems and site visits Offering remote support when needed, especially during quieter periods Building strong client relationships through excellent communication and service delivery What you’ll need: Proven experience in an IT Field Engineer or 2nd Line/Desktop Support role Strong knowledge of: Windows 10/11, Windows Server (2016–2022) Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Microsoft 365 admin centre, Exchange Online, Intune Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls) Confident in hardware troubleshooting across devices and peripherals Excellent customer service and time management skills Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel daily to client sites Nice to have (but not essential): Certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or VMware Experience with virtualisation (Hyper-V or VMware) Familiarity with backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Barracuda) Previous use of RMM tools (ConnectWise, ITBoost) Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure AD What’s in it for you: Salary up top £35,000 Fully electric company vehicles for all client travel Company pension scheme Ongoing training and professional development Friendly, down-to-earth team culture Opportunities for career progression as the company continues to grow Who this role is perfect for: You’re already working in a 2nd line or field role and want more variety and ownership You’re comfortable dealing directly with customers and enjoy building relationships You’re organised, proactive, and confident solving issues independently You’re looking to develop your technical skills and grow with a supportive company Please note: This is a full-time, Monday–Friday, site-based role in Hereford, with regular travel to customer locations using the provided electric company vehicle
