The Glass Lounge is a vibrant café‑bar in Hoddesdon, offering a warm, lively atmosphere and an experience that goes far beyond great coffee. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to oversee the evening operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive hospitality experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for patrons. The successful applicant will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for our guests while ensuring efficient and profitable bar operations.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of bar staff, including bartenders, servers, and kitchen personnel.
* Oversee food preparation and ensure all culinary offerings meet quality standards.
* Manage the bar's inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health & safety standards across all operations.
* Lead the team in delivering excellent customer service, fostering a friendly and professional environment.
* Oversee the preparation of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, and other specialised drinks.
* Handle customer complaints or issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels.
* Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area in accordance with hygiene standards.
Skills
* Proven supervising experience within a hospitality or restaurant environment.
* Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate staff effectively.
* Extensive restaurant or hotel experience, particularly in food preparation, cooking, or food production roles such as barista experience or culinary background.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in managing stock and operational procedures.
* Leadership qualities that inspire confidence and foster teamwork among staff members.
* Good communication skills to liaise with team members, suppliers, and customers professionally.
* Experience in serving customers efficiently while maintaining high standards of hospitality.
