Area of Deployment – Initial Assignment
This will be with the London Underground Engineering Rolling Stock Commercial Support team. The team is accountable for providing engineering insight and technical support to the Procurement and Commercial team that is responsible for the procurement of parts, services and materials for use on LU (and sometimes other) Rolling Stock. The main objective is to ensure that the materials and services provided are appropriate for the safe, reliable, and cost‑efficient operation of our services. Future assignments could potentially include, but are not limited to, technical support for the maintenance and renewals of our LU Engineering Vehicles fleet, LU rolling stock Maintenance Assurance and depot rolling stock support engineering (LU or London Tram fleets).
Day‑to‑Day Focus
Provide technical requirements specifications (TRSs) and technical product specifications (TPSs) to enable competitive procurement tenders, early market engagement presentations and assessments, non‑competitive transaction assessments, and provide domain expertise and technical guidance to the Procurement Team to support their other procurement activities.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Degree in a relevant discipline (mechanical, electrical or combination) and working towards engineering Chartership
* Equivalent apprentice route qualification (at Level 4) with experience in a relevant industry and working towards professional recognition
* Demonstrable experience in authoring technical documents/specifications/standard authoring experience for safety critical components and/or systems
* Broad knowledge of applicable rail and rolling stock standards, guidance documentation, industry regulations such as ROGS and health & safety legislation
* Demonstrable experience of technical delivery in a rolling stock engineering environment
* Proven experience of providing engineering services to programmes, projects or maintenance entities for a large, high risk, complex, safety focused and regulated organisation(s), where there are multiple complex interfaces and delivering to time, budget and quality
* Building positive relationships with, and influencing, a wide range of stakeholders at all levels within and outside of the organisation, both technical and non‑technical
