SEND Teaching Assistant: Specialist Hub Support in Blackpool

We are seeking dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistants to join our specialist SEN Hub located in Blackpool. This is a unique opportunity to work intensively with a small, dedicated group of pupils who require high levels of support to access their learning. Due tot he nature of pupil needs, we will require dedicated and committed individuals to take up these posts. Reliability and character will be a strong attribute and consideration. You will be working within the Primary School SEN hub within a team of qualified individuals supporting children in a 1:3 ratio.
Contract Details: Flexible, Term-Time Only Work
This role is offered on a Temporary, Term-Time Only contract basis, providing you with flexibility and the potential for long-term consistency. These roles will extend for one term (13 weeks) to two terms in length (24 weeks).
Pay Rate: £13.68 - £14.00 per hour (Based on experience and the length/commitment of the contract).
The Role: Making a Difference Every Day
As a key member of our Hub team, you'll be supporting a small cohort of children with a diverse range of complex needs, including:
Cognitive Learning Difficulties
Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD/SEMH)
Physical and Sensory Impairments
Your core responsibilities will include:
Small Group and 1:1 Support: Delivering highly personalised activities and interventions, adapting resources to meet the unique needs of each pupil.
Communication: Utilising various communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visuals) to support verbal and non-verbal pupils in expressing themselves.
Behaviour and Emotional Support: Implementing structured positive behaviour strategies and therapeutic approaches to help pupils manage their emotions and self-regulate.
Collaboration: Working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to monitor and track pupil progress against their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
What We Are Looking For:
A relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or 3 is desirable) or equivalent experience such as special needs or carer experience.
Essential Experience: Proven experience working with children or young people with a range of complex special educational needs (school-based or transferable experience welcome).
Personal Qualities: Exceptional patience, a calm and positive demeanour, resilience, and a genuine commitment to inclusion. 100% attendance rate.
Skills: Strong ability to observe, record, and report on pupil progress, excellent communication skills, and adaptability.
A firm understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
