A Snapshot of Your Day Join our service division in Lincoln as a Technical Support Engineer supporting Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery. You’ll dive into complex troubleshooting and deliver practical solutions across our global fleet of installed gas turbines. You’ll rotate through the Technical Support Helpdesk and travel worldwide for on-site support as a determined yet considerate troubleshooter. As you grow, you’ll build deep expertise in gas turbine operation, control system hardware, instrumentation, and software—backed by training and routes to IET/IMechE accreditation. Your work keeps customers running and strengthens our field service performance across the UK and worldwide. How You’ll Make an Impact
1. You provide first-line support during unplanned shutdowns, create clear technical workscopes, and cover the Helpdesk—including out-of-hours support.
2. You troubleshoot core, package, mechanical, and control system issues across our gas turbine fleet and travel worldwide for on-site support.
3. You implement approved design changes and mechanical modifications to bring products up to specification.
4. You maintain the knowledge database and partner with Service Engineering to optimise installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance.
5. You collaborate with the Remote Diagnostics Centre to develop, test, and deploy new diagnostic tools, support specialist training, and ensure HSE compliance.
What You Bring
6. A degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience); ideally working toward Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.
7. Demonstrable experience with engine or turbine systems; you diagnose complex problems, drive corrective actions under pressure, and model zero-harm safety behavior.
8. Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; you explain complex system functions clearly to customers and field staff.
9. Ability to understand gas turbine operation and mechanical and control systems, including ladder logic and other control software variants; familiarity with Siemens and Allen Bradley controls is a plus.
10. Detail-oriented and organised; comfortable using Microsoft Office. You’re open to worldwide travel when required.
About the Team You’ll join the Technical Support Group in Lincoln—an established, friendly team of specialised engineers supporting sites across the UK and worldwide. The team provides engineering and technical support to Siemens field service teams and external customers, including first-line response during unplanned shutdowns. They staff the Technical Support Helpdesk with out-of-hours coverage when needed and carry out on-site activities globally. Collaboration is central: the team works closely with Service Engineering to refine installation, repair, commissioning, and maintenance procedures.
