We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our Maintenance team. This position offers a 24-hours contract and will be based at The Abbey Hotel in Redditch.

As our Maintenance Assistant, you are responsible to: Maintenance Manager General Scope and Purpose To be totally customer focused by consistently delivering excellent customer service with an informed, friendly and effective approach. To ensure that maintenance and repairs to the hotel are completed to an acceptable standard, thus ensuring continuity of service of all facilities within the hotel. To maintain standards of hospitality as laid down by hotel and Company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. To be fully aware of hotel activities and facilities.
2. To have a thorough knowledge of the operation of all plant, boiler, air conditioning and heating equipment in the hotel and maintain in an efficient working order.
3. In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, to liaise with Service Engineers with regards to breakdowns and scheduled services and acquire as much background information on the problems in order to further develop personal skills.
4. To carry out short term maintenance work & emergency repairs affecting guest bedrooms and services with immediate effect.
5. To liaise fully with all departments with regard to maintenance, especially housekeeping and the food preparation areas.
6. To deal with emergency and breakdown calls quickly and efficiently.
7. To check all maintenance stocks on a regular basis, ordering appropriate stocks when necessary to maintain continuity of service to all other departments.
8. To ensure all key and security procedures laid down by the hotel are strictly adhered to. This to include the use of the work register for all outside contractors.
9. To follow the Company's Health & Safety policy and to complete all duties on the Health & Safety checklists as soon as possible. Otherwise, to liaise with the appropriate Head of Department, General Manager and external contractors.
10. To have an awareness of electrical regulations and ensure that these are complied with throughout the premises at all times.
11. To carry out painting & decorating when required.
12. To check fire alarm systems weekly, maintaining all reports in the Fire Manual.
13. To practice the correct and safe use and care of all items of equipment.
14. To ensure on all occasions you observe safe and hygienic working practices in order to satisfy the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act and other statutory legislation.
15. To attend training when required.
16. To be fully aware of and strictly observe Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Security policies and procedures.
17. To be fully aware of and comply with hotel and Company rules and regulations as identified in the Team Member Handbook, within Polices & Procedures and on the Team Noticeboards.
