Job summary Swansea Bay UHB Infection Prevention & Control Service is looking for a motivated, forward thinking and highly experienced NMC registered nurse to become part of the Decontamination and Infection Prevention & Control Team. The post holder will work alongside the Matron- Operational Decontamination Lead in ensuring a robust decontamination service is being delivered across the Health Board. They will be expected to manage their own workload and work across professional, organisational, agency and system boundaries to improve services and develop practice. They will be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner as well as within part of a large team. This will be a permanent position with full time hours (37.5 hours). The post will be predominantly based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, but the successful candidate will cover the acute and community settings of Swansea Bay University Health Board and will be required to travel across all sites. Main duties of the job The post holder will work towards becoming a specialised practitioner in all aspects of decontamination. They will be a supporting specialised advisor in decontamination providing support and advice to all disciplines throughout the Heath Board. They will be expected to work independently within defined professional and clinical boundaries. They will support the Matron- Operational Decontamination lead in the provision of professional leadership, specialist advice and benchmarking on nationally recognised standards and best practice guidance in relation to decontamination. They will support in the preparation, development and implementation of policies and procedures for the decontamination of reusable medical devices across the Health Board, under the guidance of the Matron- Operational Decontamination Lead. The post holder will be responsible for auditing standards of decontamination practices and supporting with the production of improvement plans where necessary. They will be responsible for the delivery of decontamination training and education within defined professional and clinical boundaries for all disciplines of Health Board staff.
