The Role
As a Project Controls Manager, you’ll step into a pivotal position at the heart of our Mission Systems business – delivering integrated, cutting‑edge solutions for defence, aerospace and national security. You’ll help steer some of our most complex programmes, including the Skynet space programme, applying best‑practice project controls to keep scope, cost, schedule, risk and quality on track.
It’s a role that offers real purpose: you’ll enhance national resilience, contribute to programmes that protect people and assets, and gain exposure to a wide portfolio of high‑value, multi‑disciplinary work. You’ll also be part of a supportive and progressive project controls community, with opportunities to grow, develop and move across major projects within Mission Systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Establish, maintain and adhere to project controls governance, processes and procedures.
2. Develop and manage the Performance Measurement Baseline across scope, cost and schedule.
3. Lead and support scheduling teams to develop, revise and analyse integrated project schedules.
4. Manage project controls activities including cost management, change management, risk and opportunity management, and configuration/document management.
5. Work collaboratively with internal teams, customers, and external suppliers to support programme delivery.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Project Controls Manager
6. Experience in project controls within complex or major projects or programmes.
7. Strong understanding of project controls disciplines (planning/scheduling, cost, risk, change, EVM, configuration control).
8. Proven application and assurance of project controls governance
9. Proficiency with project controls tools such as MSP, Primavera P6, RiskHive, ERP/SAP.
10. Experience working collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
