Overview
The role of Specialty Training Programme Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology will work with and support the Head of School for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate and long-term workforce plan.
The role will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.
The appointment will be made on the basis of a part-time secondment to NHS England, alongside existing employment with an NHS Trust in the South West geographical footprint. This is a senior educator position appointed on a secondment basis until 31 October 2026. This role is for 0.75 PA.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of a wide range of functions aligned to the NHS England mandate and long-term workforce plan.
* Improve learner supervision, assessment and experience, engage faculty, and ensure effective educational outcomes both now and in the future.
* Collaborate with the Head of School to support the strategy and design of educational programmes within Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the region.
* Support and develop a multi-professional education team and ensure quality assurance across programmes.
* Represent the department in inter-organisational working groups and contribute to policy and process development.
Qualifications
* Experienced clinician with a thorough understanding of education and training across the region.
* Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
Appointment details
The NHS England board has set the top-level purpose for the organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. The role will contribute to this purpose while operating on a part-time secondment basis until 31 October 2026, alongside an existing NHS Trust post in the South West footprint.
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
