Engineering Shift Team Leader (Panama Shift Pattern)
Responsible for leading an engineering shift team and ensuring the site operates safely, reliably, and efficiently at all times. Working a Panama shift pattern, you will coordinate engineering activities, balancing planned maintenance with reactive work to support production and minimise downtime.
You'll take ownership of maintenance planning through the CMMS (AGILITY), manage external contractors, and drive improvements that enhance equipment performance and site availability. Developing your team is a core focus, alongside embedding a strong safety culture and ensuring operational targets are consistently achieved.
The position also involves overseeing spare parts and inventory, delivering improvement projects, and organising equipment refurbishments and overhauls. You may occasionally be required to cover other shift leaders or act as deputy to the Maintenance Manager.
Main Duties
* Lead and supervise an engineering shift team to meet operational objectives
* Schedule and coordinate preventative and breakdown maintenance activities
* Use CMMS systems to plan, track, and prioritise engineering work
* Manage contractor activity and ensure compliance with site standards
* Monitor performance, workloads, and shift output
* Escalate technical or operational risks when appropriate
* Promote and enforce health, safety, and compliance standards
* Support training, development, and engagement of engineering staff
* Control engineering stores, spares, and stock levels
* Deliver continuous improvement and reliability-focused initiatives
* Plan and support major maintenance and overhaul activities
Skills & Experience Required
* Operational Focus: Ability to align engineering activity with business and production needs
* People Leadership: Strong communication and leadership skills to manage teams effectively
* Flexibility: Willing and able to step into senior cover roles when required
* Performance Oversight: Experience managing shift delivery and engineering KPIs
* Health & Safety: Clear understanding of safe systems of work and site responsibility
