JOB: Design Engineer
LOCATION: Chelmsford
TERM: Permanent
SALARY: GBP 30,000 – GBP 45,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client specialises in metalwork and fabrication, and they are looking to take on a Design Engineer on a permanent basis near Chelmsford.
Qualifications
* 1‑5 years' experience in a similar CAD Operation / Design Engineering / Mechanical Engineering position
* Proficient using 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and Tekla
* Experience with bespoke metalwork, structural steel, and metal detailing
* Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is beneficial
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Proficient using MS Office
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
* Ability to work well independently as well as part of a small multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
* Work within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
* Produce 3D designs using AutoCAD and Tekla
* Liaise with manufacturing providers
* Participate in the final assembly of products
* Create required documentation for design and project reports/plans
* Update 3D models and drawings
* Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
* Check drawings for sign‑off
* Work in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
