Senior Platform Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build, and secure the data platforms underpinning critical national systems. You’ll join a high-performing engineering team working in a Linux environment, ensuring all platforms and applications are secure by design and capable of supporting advanced data and analytics workloads.
This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, thrives in a security-cleared environment, and takes pride in delivering robust, scalable platforms that meet the highest security and performance standards.
What you’ll do
1. Develop, maintain, and secure the organisation’s Linux-based data stack.
2. Build and manage a Kubernetes environment that supports tooling and complies with Secure by Design (SbD) principles.
3. Set up and optimise Spark clusters, ensuring seamless migration across platforms.
4. Manage user accounts and permissions through identity providers.
5. Maintain and optimise Delta Lake data storage.
6. Collaborate with the Security & Accreditation team to uphold security and compliance requirements.
7. Keep platform documentation current and clear.
What you’ll bring
8. Deep Linux engineering experience.
9. Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.
10. Proficiency in scripting languages – Python or Bash preferred.
11. Experience working with air-gapped networks and secure cloud environments.
12. Understanding of HPC environments, encryption, and compliance standards.
13. Previous experience in a DV-cleared or high-security setting.
