Operating daily from the NELFT Supply Chain Distribution Centre in Brentwood, Essex, you will provide comprehensive and confidential support to the Supply Chain Business Partner, covering all aspects of administrative, organisational and project management support to ensure the smooth running of the Supply Chain Distribution Centre operations, systems and processes.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective management of Supply Chain services in relation to health & safety, fleet vehicle management and movement of materials from source to all areas currently serviced.
You must have experience of a warehouse health & safety processes, be trained in the use of electronic manual handling equipment, knowledge of vehicle fleet management and routing, knowledge of health & safety risk assessment processes.
Main duties of the job
• Ensure all staff comply with relevant legislation and policies, especially with regard to Health & Safety of departmental staff and site security.
• Manage, coordinate and record completion of essential site inspections and checks, including fire safety checks, emergency lighting, and defib checks.
• Manage, coordinate and record completion of essential operational equipment inspections and checks, including annual LOLER inspections and annual SEMA recognised or equivalent, pallet racking inspections.
• Manage, coordinate and record regular rack inspections to assess damage and identify the appropriate course of action to remedy.
• Oversee the quality/effectiveness of clean and refurbishment of equipment, ensuring that all equipment stocked is acceptance tested, serviced, repaired by equipment contractors.
• Monitor stock and equipment for disposal, ensuring appropriate validation methods/guidance documents are in place, avoiding unnecessary disposal.
• Arrange annual independent external rack inspections, and complete relevant paperwork and remedial actions post inspection.
• Monitoring warehouse waste management, escalating where required.
• Deputise for the Supply Chain Business Partner when required
• Organising work schedules and manpower
• Line manage team members within own section of responsibility.
• Undertake supervision meetings and performance reviews.
• Provide cover for the Supply Chain Routing Officer, where required, with routing and vehicle activities.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject or with significant equivalent experience
2. Good standard of education, GCSE or equivalent including English & Mathematics
3. Working towards IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent professional qualification.
4. Racking safety awareness course (SEMA approved or equivalent)
5. Valid driving licence qualification to reflect B entitlement and ability to drive manual cars, vans, and large 3.5 tonne vans in the UK.
Desirable criteria
6. Working towards a professional qualification in the Institute of Supply Chain Management (IOSCM) or the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), or equivalent professional qualification
7. Reach Truck qualification (RTITB) accredited or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
8. Proven experience in team leadership, providing supervision to a team within a warehouse, supply chain, or logistics environment.
9. Experience of health and safety systems, practices, and compliance within a warehouse or logistics environment.
10. Strong IT skills and excellent working knowledge of various MS packages.
11. Experience of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Inventory Management Systems (IMS).
12. Experience in distribution and transport planning
