Overview
Science Technician
St Mary's Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our science team in our Outstanding secondary school. This role supports the science department with preparation and maintenance of equipment and materials for lessons, ensuring safe and efficient functioning of laboratories. The post is part-time (4 hours per day, 5 days per week) with a half-hour unpaid lunch each day. The exact hours (e.g., 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) will be discussed and mutually agreed with the successful applicant.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain equipment and materials for science lessons.
* Ensure safe and efficient functioning of science laboratories.
* Support the smooth running of the Science department and ensure students have access to the materials and equipment they need to excel in their studies.
* Work as part of a team of science technicians and teachers to support teaching and learning in science.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Working understanding of chemicals and solutions.
* Enthusiasm for science and a can-do, flexible approach to work.
* Ability to work on own initiative and in a busy team environment; leadership skills are welcome.

* Competitive salary: H3 5-6 (Fringe) £25,583 - £25,989 + £729 Fringe FTE (£11,902 - £12,086 pro-rata)
