CAD / CAM Technician
Job description
To use CAD/CAM software to create models of master parts. Responsible for the manufacture of ‘Master Hobs' to provide the optimal punch tabletting face for high-quality tablets and trouble-free production, according to customer requirements.
The successful candidate should have:
1. Experience with CAD/CAM software to create models and programmes of master parts for tablet compression tooling.
2. Ability to manufacture parts from master tablet tooling designs and drawings.
3. Experience operating die mould CNC milling machines.
4. Skills in inspection and visual validation using measuring equipment and vision systems, including but not limited to micrometres, Vernier callipers, bench clocks, contour tracers, shadow graphs, and digital cameras.
5. Ability to finish and polish detailed embossing and features to high accuracy, meeting manufacturing specifications.
6. Proficiency in completing process checks and updating schedules using Microsoft 360 applications.
7. Support for downstream engineering processes.
8. Willingness to assist with other machining operations as required.
Preferred qualifications
1. Proven manufacturing experience, ideally in a similar industry.
2. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, instructions, and technical reports.
3. Good understanding of measurement and quality control aspects.
4. Proactive approach to equipment maintenance and continuous improvement.
5. Understanding of QRM or similar manufacturing lead time environments.
6. Team player with excellent communication skills and flexibility.
7. Ability to work independently and adaptively, willing to go the extra mile to meet deadlines.
8. Eagerness to learn and contribute to team efforts.
Hours of work: AM / PM shifts 6 am-2 pm / 2 pm-10 pm, rotating, plus occasional Saturday overtime paid at premium rate.
Pay: From £9.44 to £12.72 per hour, with an 18% shift premium (up to £15.01 per hour). Overtime is available but not guaranteed.
Annual salary range: £22,590 to £30,439.
