Job Title: Project Engineer (Capital Maintenance Project Team)
This role seeks a self-motivated candidate to manage engineering projects end-to-end across Thames Water’s operational sites and estate.
Responsibilities include managing all aspects of each CAPEX project, from initial scoping, tendering, contractor procurement, site setup, health and safety inspections, commissioning, training, to handover to operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical, and ICA projects, typically valued between £100,000 and £1 million.
2. Handle multiple live projects simultaneously, with additional projects in scoping and tendering phases.
3. Develop innovative solutions to operational problems, enhancing site efficiency and value for customers.
4. Collaborate with operations and contractors to scope, define, and cost solutions that are cost-effective and low risk.
5. Oversee health and safety compliance and conduct monthly audits.
6. Ensure construction aligns with policies, procedures, industry standards, and CDM regulations.
7. Coordinate with delivery partners to ensure timely project delivery.
8. Maintain compliance with Asset Standards and relevant professional codes.
9. Forecast and report on project finances, including Value of Work Done (VOWD).
10. Manage pre-construction documentation, project programs, risk assessments, RAMS, and construction phase plans.
11. Oversee commissioning, training, and project handover to operations.
12. Ensure completion documents, including test certificates, manuals, safety files, and drawings, are available and handed over.
Note: A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are required as the role involves travel to multiple sites. A car allowance is provided.
Location: Rye Meads STW, SG12 8JY
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
Candidate Requirements:
* Background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering preferred.
* Relevant qualifications such as BTEC/HND or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of Water Processing or Wastewater treatment advantageous.
* Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, work independently, and demonstrate initiative.
* Understanding of Health and Safety standards, including CDM, with training provided.
* Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management.

* Salary up to £56,000 per annum plus a £4,500 car allowance.
