Autism Support Assistant Position at Leader Education
Leader Education is seeking an Autism Support Assistant for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) school in Newcastle and North Tyneside.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for classroom development and gaining valuable experience. Leader Education provides free training and ongoing personal development courses to enhance the skills of successful candidates. The position involves working with children from Key Stage 1 to 4, including 1:1 support and small group work. Driving is desirable for applicants.
The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and it is a long-term role.
Requirements for the successful candidate:
* Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
* Ability to follow instructions, school policies, and procedures
* Ability to work well collaboratively within a team
* Patience, consideration, and compassion
* Genuine interest in the well-being of children
* Support the teacher with lesson planning and activity preparation
* Proactive attitude and assistance with preparing lesson materials
* Supervision skills during activities and outings
* Good communication skills with staff, parents, and carers
* Support students with their individual needs
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for students
