Our Sport Editorial team plays a vital role in that mission, delivering fast, accurate and engaging sports content to customers across digital, print and social platforms. From breaking news and live match coverage to tailored content for specialist audiences, our team helps keep sports fans informed and connected.
We're now looking for a Production Editor to join our Sport Editorial team on a 12-month maternity cover contract, working 22.5 hours per week across three days.
About the role.
This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced sports newsroom, helping to shape and deliver content for a wide range of customers.
As a Production Editor, you'll carry out a variety of editorial tasks, including editing, enhancing and tailoring copy, fact-checking, selecting and editing images, and managing services for our sport customers. You'll ensure content is accurate, engaging and tailored to suit different audiences, including bespoke products and social media channels.
Working closely with colleagues across the editorial operation, you'll prioritise incoming stories, identify content opportunities and help ensure our customers receive high-quality sports coverage that meets demanding deadlines.
What you'll need.
1. A journalism qualification
2. Strong editing skills with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and styles
3. Excellent time-management skills and the ability to meet demanding deadlines
4. In-depth knowledge of a wide range of sports
5. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a complex workload
6. Confidence working independently and making editorial decisions
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
8. Knowledge of digital publishing, including SEO, social media and content management systems
It would be beneficial if you also have
9. Experience working in a regional or national newsroom
10. A strong sub-editing background
11. Experience of project coordination or organisational responsibilities
12. Video production or editing skills
