Support Engineer - Workplace Technology Services is a highly visible infrastructure role that requires commitment to providing a high-quality service to meet customer project demand.

This role is required to work a 12-hour, 4 on 4 off shift pattern (Days and nights 7-7).

Your place of work will rotate between two main client sites, one based in Slough, Berkshire and one based in Farringdon, London.

What you’ll be doing as our Support Engineer - Workplace Technology Services:

* Build, rack, and stack network and server hardware in data center halls and co-locations, providing connectivity.
* Perform network hardware break-fix activities, e.g., replacing power supplies, modules, fans, etc.
* Monitor the client’s ticket system and ensure tickets are assigned and completed within SLA.
* Carry out all types of patching/jumpering including voice & data, copper & fiber.
* Perform testing and fault finding on copper and fiber cabling infrastructure (including ISDN line tests) using a variety of modern testers.
* Carry out all types of copper voice and data terminations as required by the ONNEC portfolio of cabling systems.
* Audit and document existing cabling installations.
* Audit and document desktop configuration, including patching and power, for existing and proposed user locations.
* Compile patching schedules as required.
* Utilize cable management software as required for patching planning.
* Provide connectivity support to desktop users.
* Power down and disconnect all desktop equipment, ensuring all identified and labeled correctly for reconnection.
* IMAC-D of all desktop equipment including any peripherals.
* Maintain accurate records of all stock delivered and update as stock is used, advising line manager of any requirements or shortfalls.
* Carry out surveys and update drawings and schedules.

What we’re looking for in our Support Engineer - Workplace Technology Services:

* Experience working in a data center and office environment.
* Experience in an installation, moves, adds, and changes environment (IT hardware deployment).
* Experience in structured cabling installation, fault finding, and testing with Fluke test equipment.
* Good knowledge of structured cabling standards and cable types (FTP, UTP & Optical Fiber).
* Self-starter, organized, detail-oriented, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Prioritization skills and multitasking ability.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Knowledge of asset management systems.
* Knowledge of ticketing systems.
* An understanding of complex change management and service delivery processes.
* Ability to lead/supervise shift activities.
